Another year, another April and we’re back! Today’s prompt to write a Kay Ryan-esque poem came from the official NaPo site. Audio here
Paint me a sea.
Not with rough
ragged waves
but flags, curling
crisp in the wind;
wisps of fists
calling in a warning.
or calling me in.
Paint me a sea
even Hokusai
couldn’t predict;
strict strokes and a squint
of colour like a hint
of pink drowning
in the blue.
Paint me a sea
with the far away moon
swallowing her clouds
as I, also far away,
swallow loud thoughts
of you

I love this! Each day of my NaPoWriMo I want to share a poem by a fellow participant, so I’ve linked yours in my blog as well. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with this year’s NaPoWriMo!
