Today’s prompt was to write a poem borne from an overheard sentence or phrase. But, to be honest, although eavesdropping is one of my favourite past-times, I’ve avoided hearing anyone speak all day, so this is technically a cheat.
If this body ends
as a grave for all the thoughts
that were unspoken
make me a tombstone
of my tongue, angel, and write
aloud the ruins
which wrestled me down.
