GloPoWriMo: April 26th

Today’s prompt  was to write poem with a call and response type refrain. hmm. One thing about NaPo is that it challenges your comfort levels. That’s all I’m going to say on that one.

What has our experience of the rain taught us?
There is certainly space up here. The line is staccato
at this altitude. I still don’t understand
the mechanisms of this body. It’s breakages,
it’s sudden applause. Are you there?
Yes, I’m here.

It’s thick with a succulent ache. Still,
there is nowhere more brilliant than the present.
These clouds are on the very brink, they loll
around the mountain full and demented;
a kestrel stutters, hinged in the wind.
How is your mother? Are you still there?

Yes, I’m here.
I’d like to see you again. Please. Listen.
I’ll wear the blue sweater. Please bring
those soft dark eyes. I’ll suffer the rain
and parcel the breakages. I won’t lose my temper.
I’ll close all the spaces and bring you that book
the one that I knew you’d, that I thought you might.
Are you still there? Are you there?

Yes, I’m here.
